Hello, In addition to being an advanced amateur photographer, and web designer type,
I am also an advanced computer security nut.
I have been retired since June of 2007.
My last formal gig was as part of a four man team providing IT Security support, specifically Antivirus and EPo support
for the Veterans Administration. this assignment was located in Martinsburg, WV
Prior to the above I was a Senior Security Analyst assigned to the Threat Operations Center at a major
insurance company in IL prior to that I was a Network Analyst with the same company.
Prior to the above experience I spent almost 5 years at Fedex in Memphis as a WAN Network Analyst,
and handled internal IT security for the department..
As a member of the ‘Threat Operations Center’ team I was involved in all aspects of ‘perimeter security’
including IDS, Firewalls, Proxys, Internet usage, security investigations, forensics, Pentests, Email Filtering,
AntiVirus, Desktop security, and more. My primary role was ‘Subject Matter Expert’ SME for Anti-Malware/AV.
During the last four years of formal working for someone else I was responsible for reporting 3 newly found Viral attacks
to CERT and the applicable security software vendors.
I have been part of the teams that have implemented various versions of McAfee EPo and AntiVirus Products
as well as Symantec NAV / SAV thru 9.01 as well as Symantec Client Security and TrendMicro’s IMSS and
Enterprise IDS and Desktop Firewall products from Internet Security Systems and the implementation of
Secure Computings’ Sidewinder Firewall products during the past years.
Prior to all of the above I did Cost consulting, Cost and Proposal Support Services and Data Base design for various
clients. Also, included during this period was the sale and service of numerous PC computer systems.
Prior to all that, I retired from UNISYS as Dep. Director ILS, (Senior Engineer).
My last assignment was with the NEXRAD program. Prior to that I held various management positions
including Branch Field Engineering Mgr.,
Government Service - CIA
High School Instructor - Math/Science 1 year - Massachusetts
Military experience was in the US Navy (With Vietnam Service), College:I graduated with a BSEE.
